Things to Remember for Proper Storage
- Use purpose made storage boxes for the best protection of your goods
- Try to fill storage boxes to the full (fill spaces with towels, curtains or tablecloth)
- Use small storage boxes to pack heavy items
- Label every storage box
- Put frequently used items near the front
- Leave at least 50mm space off the ground for better ventilation
- Clean all clothing, curtains and drapes before putting into storage
- Put a couple of moth balls with any items like clothing and fabric to keep pest free inside storage unit
- To prevent moisture absorption inside storage unit put boxes with books on pallets or skids
- To prevent rust wipe metal things like tools and bikes with a rag containing machine oil before storage
- Clean and dry all appliances before storage
- Refrigerator's and freezer's doors should be left ajar inside storage unit
- Store smaller goods inside the furniture, use drawers for storage of delicate items
- Wrap each item of glassware/dishes and put a layer of padding on top and bottom before storage
